Le Racing Club de France élimine Aix-Marseille et St-Donat
Championnats de France par équipes de 1re division filles et garçons de moins de 17 ans aux golfs de Montgriffon et du Haut Poitou (du 11 au 15 juillet)
Après leur participation au Mérite Inter-régions à Valgarde, qualificatif pour les championnats de France (du 24 au 31 juillet au Golf National), les jeunes joueurs de la ligue Paca ont enchaîné par les championnats de France par équipes de moins de 17 ans. En 1re division filles, le seul club provençal engagé était Aix-Marseille. Composée de Marion Benzekri, Emilie Simmons et Marie-Aurélie Bouillet, l’équipe aixoise a réalisé le meilleur score de la première journée de qualification grâce au 72 d’Emilie Simmons, finaliste du championnat de France benjamines l’an dernier. A l’issue des trente-six trous, elles ont cédé, pour deux coups, la première place à Bondues (305). Victorieuses (2/1) de Bussy en huitièmes de finale, les jeunes Aixoises ont été éliminées (2/1) au tour suivant par leurs homologues du Racing Club de France La Boulie qui ont décroché le titre.
L’équipe d’Aix-Marseille : Marion Benzekri, Emilie Simmons et Marie-Aurélie Bouillet.
La même mésaventure est arrivée aux garçons de Saint-Donat. Eux-aussi deuxièmes de la qualification (611), ils ont dominé (4,5 à 2,5) Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche en quarts de finale avant de s’incliner in extremis (4 à 3) face aux champions de France du Racing.
Trois autres clubs provençaux disputaient cette compétition sur le parcours du Haut Poitou : Valescure (13e de la qualification, 681), Garden Golf Avignon (12e malgré le deuxième score – 149 – d’Arthur Dornand) et Aix-Marseille (11e, 673).
Les Varois se sont maintenus en battant (2/1) en barrages les Vauclusiens. Les Aixois ont perdu (2/1) face à Saint-Cloud. Garden Golf Avignon et Aix-Marseille sont donc relégués en 2e division.
