Victorieuse du Grand Prix de Gap, battue en play-off (par Emie Peronnin) au Grand Prix de Valgarde, Léa Cherel a débuté au pas de charge le premier tour de la coupe Gaveau, la qualification du championnat de France dames, sur le parcours étroit et bordé de roughs épais de Chantilly.
Avec un score de 70, Léa Cherel occupe la première place de la Gaveau à l'issue du 1er tour.
Caddeyée par Pierre Mathieu, l’Aixoise a signé une carte de 70 (- 2) l’une des rares sous le par de cette première journée (avec Bertille Dupont, Lorellen Gros et Solène Le Coz à 71). Il faut absolument que j’améliore mon grand jeu pour me qualfier sur ce long parcours aux roughs pénalisants. »
Encore fatiguée par son long voyage retour de Chine, Clémence Abrahamian a souffert durant ce premier tour de la Gaveau. Son 80 lui laisse encore un espoir de qualification (à un point du cut virtuel) mais elle était préoccupée par le manque de longueur de ses drives : « Après ma partie, tout le monde était rassemblé autour de moi au practice pour tenter de trouver un remède à cette perte de distance, parfois de près de 40 m. Ce n’est pas un problème de plan ni de rythme, peut-être un refus à l’impact. »
