Accompagné par le coach du Pôle Espoirs d’Antibes, Mathieu Santerre, trois joueurs de la ligue Paca (Pierre Mazier, Joris Etlin et Nicolas Manifacier) et le Limougeaud Charles Norizio ont disputé la semaine dernière le Mac Gregor Trophy (réservé aux moins de 16 ans) au South Moor Golf Club près de Newcastle. Sur un parcours court, très étroit, avec des greens assez lents, seul Nicolas Manifacier a loupé le cut (150) après les deux premiers tours, pour deux coups. Le joueur de la Cabre d’Or et du Pôle France jeunes a été pénalisé par un mauvais putting et deux ou trois mises en jeu hors limites ou dans les arbres.
- Les trois représentants de la ligue Paca, Nicolas Manifacier, Joris Etlin et Pierre Mazier.
Champion de France des moins de 13 ans en 2008 et des minimes l’an dernier, Pierre Mazier (licencié à Valescure et pensionnaire du Pôle Espoirs d’Antibes) a obtenu le meilleur résultat de la petite délégation française en se classant troisième grâce à une ultime carte de 70 pour un score total de 287 (- 1) à six longueurs du vainqueur, l’Anglais Jack Hermeston.
Après un deuxième tour difficile (77), Charles Norizio (Pôle Espoirs de Châtenay-Malabry) a fini très fort (68 et 71) et ainsi décroché la huitième place (289, + 1).
Quant à l’autre joueur de Valescure et du Pôle Espoirs d’Antibes, Joris Etlin, il a bouclé son tournoi à + 6 (21e).
Prochaine échéance pour ces quatre joueurs, les championnats de France des Jeunes qui se dérouleront du 24 au 31 juillet au Golf National.
